Need more help...

Another great link to a site with information about web design. has great stuff like the following:
Basic design principles
Five basic design principles will help you create an effective design:

  • Use contrast. Make your text stand out against the background. Use graphics or colors to signal important information.

  • Use spatial relationships to present information clearly. Items next to each other appear related to each other. Items in a bulleted list are also related to each other.

  • Establish patterns. The navigation links should appear in the same place on each page, and they should have the same design. Footers should also be the same from page to page.

  • Use moderation. Using too many colors will confuse readers. Filling every inch of the screen with information will overwhelm readers. Including meaningless graphics or sounds will annoy readers.
  • Present a balanced look. Elements on a page should be placed so that the page appears visually balanced, not tilting precariously in one direction.

More Multimedia

Authoring software is used to integrate elements together to create a presentation. There is a variety of authoring software available, some specializes in creation of very interactive educational presentation. For example the makers of that infamous television show South Park use Director to create their presentation. Director has capabilities of being interactive but in the case of South Park gives no navigational options, it flows from one frame to the next giving the viewer no choices. Other packages are used more in the business world to deliver presentation that in the past would have been presented using overheads.

Go to the Macromedia website to find out what each of these programs does, enter your findings briefly on your blog.

Macromedia:

  • Flash
  • Director
  • Dreamweaver

Go to the Microsoft website to find out what each of these programs does, enter your findings briefly on your blog.
Microsoft:

  • PowerPoint
  • Frontpage

What other software can be used to prepare multimedia?

Software is also required to prepare the media for the presentation, for example graphics, audio, text and video editing software. Suggest some software could be used for the preparation of these media.

Multimedia presentations demand a range of hardware to process and display them depending on their design. Their creation requires a range of input, processing and output devices depending on what elements they contain. Consider what input and output devices might be required to create a presentation with text, sound and graphics. List eight (four) input and output devices.

A multimedia presentation is a combination of various media or elements put together in a logical way. The elements of multimedia are :
  • Text
