Multimedia, what is it?

  1. Identify the electronic components of multimedia.
  2. Explore the scope of multimedia.
  3. Assess the features & functions of multimedia operating systems.
  4. Outline the role of multimedia.
This will be part of the process of building your website. We have already talked about some aspects. Lets get into it so we you can all become web wizards and witches!

IDENTIFY COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY FOR MULTIMEDIA

There are three major areas of use for multimedia products:
  • Information
  • Education
  • Entertainment
Multimedia is generally delivered to us on CD or via the internet. Consider Multimedia you are familiar with – list an example of one of each of the above on your blog.
A multimedia presentation is a combination of various media or elements put together in a logical way. The elements of multimedia are :
  • Text
  • Hypertext
  • Graphics
  • Animation
  • Audio
  • Video
  • Hypermedia

The success of the presentation depends how effectively these elements are integrated. Screen layout, use of menus, buttons, interaction, visual and audio feedback are all design elements that can be used to enhance a presentation when used appropriately. Good design is fundamental to the success of a multimedia piece.
